$5.99 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a cloudy yellow-gold body that's capped by a thumb's width of creamy white foam. The aroma is limited for a double IPA but it offers up some floral character, minor resins, and fruity gooseberry or white grape - that says "Nelson Sauvin" to me but we'll see. On to the taste, I'm finding oats within the maltiness. It's sweetish but far from overdone, and balanced by a firm bitterness and spritz of alcohol. This is definitely a fruity New England style double IPA. The gooseberry remains but there's also some pineapple and a berry-like fruitiness to it as well. Could that be some Mosaic? I don't know, but I don't think so as it lacks the larger range of notes that Mosaic brings with it. It's almost like raspberry and passion fruit. There's some pineapple, regular apple, and a light touch of earthiness and pine. The alcohol makes an impression at the swallow but it's remarkably well hidden within the sweet maltiness up until that point. At 8.7% that's impressive! I think it's nicely balanced. The head dropped fairly quickly but it did leave some minor lacing behind. In the mouth it's medium bodied on the fuller end and creamy and silky smooth. This is an expensive beer but I'd love to have this in my fridge at all times. I'd probably drink one every night after getting home from work. Nicely done!

Canned on: ?????

A - Opaque dark orange pineapple color with gooey white lacing.

S - Light grainy aroma with peach, faint stone fruit.

T - Apricot, stone fruit, and really light pineapple.

M - Medium body that's pillowy soft, slightly chewy, and leaves a cotton texture in the mouth.

O - Pretty meh. I wish Ever Grain would stamp their cans.

Undated (WTF) can into pint glass. Pours a murky deep gold with a brief off-white head. Good lacing. Nice and juicy with orange, pineapple, pink grapefruit, mango, and a hint of pine. Great mouthfeel - sticky and thick. Finish starts sweet-ish, fading to a nice bitterness. Overall, a really enjoyable and highly drinkable DIPA.
