The New England IPA style of hazy beers has spread across the US and overseas as brewers everywhere are doing away with their clarifying agents. These purposely cloudy brews create a smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a lower perceived hop bitterness than a typical West Coast style IPA. We jumped on the bandwagon with Trendi, an 8% hazy DIPA with notes of peach, citrus peel and lychee.

Growler filled 5/6/16; drank same day. Opaque orange appearance. A rough pour yielded a nice bright white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace. Dry wheat & watermelon jolly rancher notes in the nose. Medium thick mouthfeel. Dry wheat & watermelon jolly rancher flavors up front; faint melon notes on the finish. Dry & vaguely fruity; the mosaic profile is too much for me.

Two drafts at the brewpub, served in a rounded tulip glass.
Hazy opaque orange, saturated color with a dense meringue foam that leaves behind concentric rings of lacing.
Resiny aroma, a little bit dank, grapefruit zest, muted mango. Served a little too cold, so allow time to warm up.
Lightly fruity, grapefruit peel and mango again. Dry with a moderate resiny hop bitterness that lingers into the aftertaste. Definitely not sweet, zero candy flavors. Very smooth and creamy feel, maybe the best aspect of the beer, it lends itself well to having a couple. Enjoyed this more than their other DIPA's. Rating this objectively as an American DIPA, it's very nice.
Looking forward to drinking this again as the hop particulate settles out a little bit more. I was told at the bar that the extra dry hopping clogged the hoses when it was transferred.
