Released 1/29/25; drank 3/8/25 @ the Yarchives.
Brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; nice tree-rung lacing remained.
Cocoa powder & faint fresh earth notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Mild roast coffee bean, cocoa powder & faint banana flavors.
A nice lil' brown ale.

Strange flavor. What can it be? Oh! Mushrooms...
"American Brown Ale brewed with rich malts and Candy Cap mushrooms for their distinct maple syrup aroma and flavor." I found this online after my purchase.
I did not know this when I purchased it, since this is hidden on the label and even if you see it, it says cryptically "Ohio" and then "Mushrooms." What? Ohio? What does that even mean? This is brewed in Chicago. A somewhat thin and watery brown ale with a flavor of well, I guess, mushrooms. Sweet and earthy with a tart watery finish. I don't know what to say about this really except it is off track for what I wanted, which was maybe a brown ale without mushrooms in it. When they do this kind of weird stuff, why don't they just say "Mushroom Brown Ale?" to prevent selling something many people won't want and will shake their future confidence in the brewery?
