Poured from a growler. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, with very little light transmission, a thin, light khaki head head that dissipates to a thick film with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, citrus hops, orange and grapefruit. Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a hint of char, citrus and lightly grassy hops, grapefruit, mixed citrus and a touch of rye; finishes with nice lingering citrus rind hops and a touch of char. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A spot-on Cascadia Dark ale, with a pleasant dark malt base with nice level of char and a good hop bill that leans to West Coast citrus character. Really fits the CDA profile very nicely and had a fine hop bitterness throughout. Excellent finish. They did a great job on this, one my favorite styles that is not popular enough to find readily available. I'm pleased. On the board as "Cascadia Dark Ale" at 7.2%, but clearly this same ale.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.
Appearance: rich dark brown, nearly black, with a finger of dark tan foam atop. It certainly looks the part.
Smell: sweet, citrusy aroma. A hint of dry roast rounds out the style; I like it.
Taste: like the aroma, fruity, citrusy hops are in the fore, with a finish of dry, roasty malt. It works damn well.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation and a very good creaminess.
Overall: a really good example of the style. It really works for me.
