Cynosure Brewing

these guys are making some incredible beers and it was awesome to make it in to check the place out and have a few, i was super impressed with the liquid! very modest digs, nondescript from the outside with a humble taproom space, some wood features and some art that make it cozy, but really a no frills space, with a chalkboard menu, some bottled offerings along with the draft, and a couple picnic tables in the adjacent room among the fermenters, a little more production capacity than i would have thought, perhaps room to grow, its a fine place to hang out, but it was all about the beer for me. the selection is decent, ten or twelve beers on, enough intrigue there for sure. i was absolutely blown away by one of the best schwarzbiers ive had in ages, stoked on a cleverly built hoppy golden ale, and also pleased with their hefeweizen, which has a lot more character than most but also stayed subtle and drinkable. all were so intentional and well crafted, refined to a high degree, and very approachable, they are really doing some epic work in the brewhouse, and vault immediately into my top couple breweries in anchorage just based on quality. the folks behind the bar were real nice, talked a little shop and sent us home happy. its a relaxed place, unpretentious, and a fine place to seek out some of the best beer in the city. i cannot recommend it highly enough! not sure ill ever go back to anchorage without popping in for a couple of beers here...
