I added this as a new beer as the Kuato from 2018 has no mention of barrel aging and this ABV on the bottle in my hand is not equal to the 2018 posting.
Im pouring this 500 ml bottle at cellar temp into my snifter. The beer pours a bright clear amber hue with no streams of carbonation rising to the surface. I do get a large fluffy beige head of 4 cm that overtops my glass a bit and I leave about 30% of the bottle behind for later pours.
The foam recedes slowly with some scattered lattice on the glass and remains as a very sturdy surface layer throughout the tasting.
Aroma is some caramel malt and a bit of toasted grains. I also get a little bit of a grassy hop note. The ABV doesnt show through here.
First sip reveals a medium to light body with a smooth, silky soft texture. Carbonation is mild, soft and spacious. Mouthfeel is gentle all the way through.
Flavor is some caramel up front, but this quickly rolls to a bit of grassy hops and a little pine sap too. this hop bite is slightly bitter and then I get a little chocolate and some sweeter candy notes. The finish lingers with a little sweetness and also is dry. The flavor profile is much more complex than anticipated and the hops are definitely piney.
Im glad I bought this bottle and had a chance to try it. Id drink this again, the physical traits alone make it a winner!
