This clear, golden West-Coast style Double IPA features big aromas of sweet oranges and a subtle earthy hop complexity, the flavor packs some big bold tangerine flavors and hop bitterness expected from a Left Coast Double, but the background malt sweetness provides just enough balance to keep you wanting another sip.

On tap at the source.

A - Beautiful medium copper hue with nice clarity and perfect lacing.

S - Light caramel with citrus and tangerine.

T - Subtle malt base with spicy tangerine and citrus over top while ending with a light medium bitterness on the back side with a little bit of pine buried deep down. Some residual citrus builds on the sides of the mouth.

M - Big medium body with gentle prickly carbonation.

O - Not a stand out but definitely solid.

First review. On draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a clear, pretty, bright orange color with minimal ecru-colored head and lacing. If there were more head and lacing it would be beautiful. The smell features lemon, orange/tangerine, pine needles, and floral hops. Its taste opens with citrus - lemon, grapefruit, and orange peel - along with bready, caramel malt, and strong resinous pine. The hop bill isn't specified but it's bitter and biting. Beneath the fruit and hops it's deep and earthy. Its mouth feel is crisp and surprisingly drinkable for the 9.9% ABV. Overall, Twice as Nice is well-balanced between its sweet malt base, tart citrus, and very bitter hops. It's a big West Coast style IPA that is flavorful and satisfying. I would gladly drink it any time.
