Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a medium to dark ruddy orange with a thin, pale khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of candi malt, Belgian yeast, ripe light stone fruit, light peaty smoke and a little caramel. Flavor is candi malt, Belgian yeast, mild toffee, dried light stone fruit, and light peat smoke; a touch of oak in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Flavor is moderate, making this more of a Scotch ale than a wee heavy to my taste, but has an interesting Belgian leaning malt and yeast that actually works quite well. Light caramel notes and clear Scotch ale peat smoke, although at a light level. I would have liked a little more oak presence, but some does show up in the finish. Enjoyable.
