Kellerbier with Rye

A beer that is demonstrably simple and refreshing, yet keen to divulge its various complexities. The stable thrum of cereal malt sets up an immeasurably clean palate, out of which whisper Noble hop intonations and the lilt of a nuanced and pastoral fermentation character.

"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy." - Ludwig van Beethoven

A: Pours a lightly hazy medium burnt orange in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate ruby red + honey + medium golden yellow + bright orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy pillowy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a handful of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of biscuit + cereal grain + toasted + slightly spicy rye malts with light amounts of grainy sweetness. Light aromas of grassy + earthy hops with a light aroma of lager yeast.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of biscuit + cereal grain + toasted + slightly spicy rye malt with light amounts of grainy sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are light flavors of grassy + earthy hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which lingers for a while but results in a clean finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Lightly crisp upfront with a moderate amount of dryness. Relatively clean finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a very pleasantly refreshing mouthfeel. Enjoyable and I could easily have a couple of these - I feel like I really earned this one with a fairly long hard run out in the heat today.

Pours into a half liter stein a dull light medium golden with a full one finger bone white crown that sticks around for quite awhile.Muted aroma with a bit of toasted cereal and mild sweetness.Dry as a bone on the palate wich makes for immense drinkability, toasted with a fuller feel than expected.Could really devastate a stash of this beer on a hot day smokin' some meats.
