Much like the Irish themselves - blessed with the 'gift of gab' and always having a good craic - this dry Irish Stout exudes personality, and is the perfect accompaniment to good conversation. Pleasing highlights of bittersweet chocolate, dark roast coffee, and a dry finish all combine for a great time.

It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head rention is good. It has coffee flavors with roast. It is a bit creamy in the mouth with medium bitterness.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark cola brown approaching black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint ruby red + garnet red + chestnut brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of very mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + chocolate + toasted malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. Light aromas of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + chocolate + toasted malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of earthy hops. Light to moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a dry finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasant + lightly dry mouthfeel. Lots of malt complexity and roastiness. Enjoyable.

L- With a torch held behind it is a very dark garnet red (as most stouts are). Pours with 2mm fine-bubble medium tab head.
S- Well roasted and very malty, toasted malts, reminds me of Maltesers.
T- Follows the smell^ Deeply roasty-toasty with moderate dry hops into the finish.
F- On the dryer side vs neutral, it has x-over with an English Bitter, just with the roasty-toasty edge amped up quite a lot. Carbonation in the mouth is good. For a beer with quite a pungent and hoppy flavour an additional 1-1.5% might live this into an altogether different proposition.
O- It's nice, very different from generic canned euro-stout like Guinness, this is far more roasty, almost trad ale like, in comparison.
Can 1 (US) Pint. BB: 15/05/2021. Bought from TremblingMadness/York/UK for delivery as part of a DIY picked mixed case.
