Brewed in May of 2019, Lasting Comfort has been a long time coming. This burly barleywine spent over a year in bourbon barrels, maturing into the beer it is today. This 9.5% ABV strong ale is many things: malty, hoppy, boozy, complex, and comforting.

Pours into a stemmed glass a somewhat murky russet color with a large blooming light tan colored head atop that settles very slowly into a soapy mass leaving multiple 'globs' behind in its wake.Toasted bourbon barrel, brown sugar, and a hefty dose of resin in the nose, very inviting to me.A bit lighter in the feel than expected but it slides down way to easy. The flavors don't quite live up to the aromas but are solid, some toffee and vanilla tinged bourbon, followed by a tinge of leather, and finished with a drying slightly resinous element. If the flavors had the oomph the aromas did this would be a show stopper,as is it's still pretty damn good.

Look: It pours murky brown with a tan head. Head retention is low.
Smell: It has an orange and citrus aroma to start. There is a bit of toffey and bourbon in close support and some low bread.
Taste: It is a has bit of citrus and orange in the flavor to start. There are toffee and bread malt flavors. There is a soft bourbon element with a very low coffee note. It also has some dried cherries.
Feel: It has a full-chewy body with a pleasant bitterness to finish.
Overall, a very nice combination of flavors where the hops shine, but the malts take over towards the aftertaste. The slight coffee was a bit of a surprise in a good way.
