On tap at the brewery into pint glass. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small khaki head. Good head retention and spotty soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, dark bread, herbal, grass, light smoke/char/pepper/pine and yeast earth. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread/crust, nuts, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, citrus peel, light smoke/char, and yeast earthiness. Medium-high pine, herbal, spicy, citrus rind, charred bitter finish. Medium carbonation and medium plus body. Balanced creamy bready malts, sticky resinous hop, and chalky roast mouthfeel. Lingering hop resin/chalky roast dryness; with minimal hop astringency and acrid roast. Incredible malt complexity and balanced American hop showcase. Spot on style at 6.1%.
