A Malt Driven Beer. Reminiscent of traditional Porters, the Baltic-Style Porter has more intense flavors, but tempers them with a smooth, lager-style fermentation. Dark chocolate flavors still dominate, but treacle and dark fruit add to the complexity. Noble hops help tame the abundant sugars and bring to a finish a beer that is made for sipping. It’s heavier-bodied with medium carbonation. Flavor intensity: Moderate/High

Having this beer on-tap at Shanachi bar in Willits, CA. Here on vacation visiting my best friend Jon Passow. Served in a pint glass, this beer draws a very dark brown color with a nice tan head that’s about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with some nice cluster swirls of foam on the beer’s surface. Decent lacing. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate sweetness and black coffee bitterness along with some earthy. A very similar flavor profile here, with roasted malts with a hint of caramel sweetness along with the aforementioned chocolate sweetness and black coffee bitterness that’s rounded out with some earthy hops that add just a slight bitterness. Has a crisp, also smooth, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink in the best way. Has a clean finish and a nice bitter sweet aftertaste. Very happy I got the chance to try this one.
