Handed to me by the incomparable moose3285 during a visit/drinking session in Dayton, OH a few weeks back. 22 oz. red-waxed bottle split with my wife.
Beijing night smog black, minimal visible carbonation. Smells sweet: heavy malt, coconut, chocolate. Like.
Demogorgon – I believe I’ve found the stout counterpart of Hopslam. The few honeyed stouts I’ve had the bee-vomit just added to the base malt sweetness, but here it shines like a young Catherine McCormack. Rich honey on top of a lovely roasted malt, sautéed with a lovely shot of bourbon. The wood brings light notes of vanilla, coconut. A touch heavy, even for the ABV, but goes down smooth.
An absolutely lovely beer from a brewery I’ve never heard of, executed with panache & style, & big bonus points for uniqueness. Thanks again Mike!
