I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had cinnamon sugar and doughnut pastry notes. The taste was sweeter leaning but drinkable. There is vanilla, ginger, cinnamon sugar and sweet pastry presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Can to snifter. Look is dark brown, not totally opaque. Smell is light vanilla. Taste is seeet vanilla and cocoa powder, reminiscent of butter cream frosting. Feel is medium, somewhat sweet but not cloying. Overall a unique beer, maybe capturing that vanilla frosting thing better than any beer I’ve had.

16 oz can from Kevin
Canned on 10/25/19
Thulsa Doom
Pours a tea-like brown color with some mahogany tint up the sides and a creamy off-white head of 1/2 finger. Recedes to a thin ring leaving sparse specks of lace behind.
Aromas of tea, grass, cacao nibs, vanilla frosting, earth, and buttercreme icing.
Flavor brings cacao nibs, piney bitterness, earth, mint, vanilla, caramel, soap, and vanilla icing.
Feel is slick and smooth, very good carbonation for the beer, sticky finish, slight lingering resins, very minimal alcohol heat.
Overall a tasty beer but the earthy/piney hop bitterness is really something to contend with. Does the almost-too-sweet-too-bitter thing.

American Imperial Stout designed to taste like a Red Velvet Cake donut from Holtman's (Cincinnati). Great drawing of Rick Flair on the can ("Woooooooo!"). Poured from a can into a Sierra Nevada pub glass. The pour is not very stout-like. It is dark mahogany, but you can easily see through it. The head is fairly thick and has average retention. The nose however is a freaking magic trick. Not only can you smell red velvet cake, you can actually smell the red velvet icing on it too!
The beer has a medium-full body with a rather thin feel and a lot of flavor. Some milk chocolate and vanilla up front as well as some roast and toffee flavors. The roast builds a bit as the beer moves across the palate. By the time you reach the finish, the flavors of roast and vanilla seem to be the most dominant (with some chocolate and just a faint hint of buttermilk as well). I'm not sure the flavors quite work for me. I think what the beer lacks is some more rich, toasted malt flavor to go along with the added flavors. I should also add that I think this beer tastes better on tap than out of a can.

From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate---this collaboration with
Holtman's doughnuts brings beer and red velvet cake doughnuts to
a culmination that is interesting. Pours a dark brownish black with
cola highlights and a light head of off white foam that settles to
a thin ring, subtle light swirling layer, and displays some decent light
lacing. Nose of cake frosting (?!??), subtle chocolate malts, and hints
of roast. Flavors lightly exceed the nose----cake notes are evident;
reminiscent of cake batter with touches of chocolate and roast
with a cloying sweet frosting note with touches of chocolate and
mild char. Decent mouth feel; low carbonation, medium full
mouth feel, and a rich bitter cocoa and and artificially sweet
frosting note.
Interesting, but gonna be hard to choke down a growler of
it.
Nice for a single glass.
Cheers
