From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This solid little offering
that is a collaboration with Lough Gill Brewery in Sligo, Ireland pours a dark
brownish black with cola highlights and a dissipating head of off white foam
that subsides to a thin ring, thin light pooling layer, and displays subtle lacing.
Nose of coffee, dark cocoa, and cream touched dark fruits. Flavors surpass
the nose with nice coffee and dark fruit notes of blueberry and a hint of cherry
with dark cocoa and moderately heavy brulee over a bed of dark brown sugars
and toasted malts. Nice mouth feel; full body, medium light verging on light
carbonation that is almost perfect, and a nice roasted malt and bitter malt
finish.
Overall this is a solid brew from a brewery that produces quality craft brews
in a wide range of styles. The only knock in the look which is more akin to
an imperial brown ale. That said this is a SOLID brew with a great flavor
profile that is beyond what I expected. Like and imperial Irish stout.
NICE!
Cheers
