Draft at Mad Swede. Bright holden pour with a small, tight white head. Malty, grainy aroma. Taste brings a nice hoppy bitterness, more malts underneath. Solid and right on target.

a tasty pale german lager here, maybe a little less clear and light and crisp and refined as the best examples of the style, but i dont need it lobotomized either, and appreciate how much character this has. definitely the lightest beer on their menu, which is nice to have as summer sets in here, this should do well for them and i am not aware of anyone else making one of these locally at this time, so good choice. there is a little cloudiness to this, a decent airy white head, and some visible carbonation. it immediately smells and tastes somewhat more substantial than the style normally does to me, very german on the malt side, a pils sort of grain complexion, a touch of sweetness with it, straw and hay and late summer harvest vibes to the malt, familiar lager yeast, maybe not quite given enough time to work itself all the way down to dry, but the flavor is right. a lightly herbal element to the hops here but not overly hoppy or anything, just a little bitterness to help it finish. a frothy, sudsy texture with plenty of bubbles, refreshing even though its robust for the style. perhaps in need of a little tidying up, but still a nice addition to their lineup and a beer i will be drinking more of. i liked the pils they canned a little more...
