brewed in the style of a dutch kuyt, not something you see everyday! its a light and drinkable oat based pale ale, simple in a way, but also unconventional due to all the oats in the mash, oddly refreshing on a hot day, and a style i could stand to see resurrected a little bit by the american craft community. i havent had many of these, so not much to compare to here, but this definitely has some fermentation character to it, almost a cross between a hefe type yeast and a clean saison strain or even a kveik type, estery like banana, but also slightly belgian or french, gummy and high tone, not over developed in here, but seemingly intentional for sure, makes it more interesting. some herbal hops with a little drying bitterness late. this is hazy but pale, fuller bodied from the oats, seemingly protein rich, but also still easy drinking due to the dryness of the ferment and to the high carbonation pushing it along. unique pear, white grape, sweet orange, and taffy fruitiness, but also earthy and grounded by the grain. cool beer in an unconventional style, rather well executed. you can always count on a few unique offerings at the brewery here!

edit: for halloween they have a version of this infused with blood orange and ghost pepper right now at the brewery. its subtle though, a little sharpness from the citrus and maybe a touch of sweet, all the heat is in the throat on the swallow, warming but not burning, and not too long lingering. i think this could be more robust on both counts, but i like the idea of using this as a base beer for other flavors, it lends itself well to that, much as i like it on its own too...

Bomber from brewery. Pours out a light hazy pale golden, small bubbly head. Soft grainy aroma, lemons. Taste is mildly sweet with more light lemon. Oats give it a nice soft, full texture.
