We are thrilled to welcome to the Mad Swede family: Himinglæva Hazy Pale Ale!! She's a Juicy Hazy Pale Ale that smells like a coconut hitting the sand and tastes like that tropical vacation you had to cancel this year. Copiously dry-hopped with seductive Sabro hops, she offers up mouth-watering aromas of toasted coconut and tangy pineapple, with a palette that delivers a juicy hit of tangerine and a long, dry finish.

A new staff-favorite, this beer is so heavenly we named her after the playful sea nymph Himinglæva, which means "that through which one can see the heavens."

12oz can picked up at the Boise Co-op in Meridian, ID; first from Mad Swede; abv indicated as 5.3% on the label
Poured into a Reuben's Then & Now glass

P hazy deep orange/caramel color w/ a 1-2f foamy off-white head; looks nice
N surprisingly bold nose of juicy sweet tropical notes; really nice- super inviting and notable
T drops off here quite a bit; light citrusy and tropical hops over biscuity malt; alright, but admittedly a let-down after the nose
Mf light-med bodied w/ med carb
O aside from the stellar nose and good drinkability, this one was just ok; not memorable enough to warrant a revisit

Draft at Mad Swede. Hazy amber pour, skin of head. Light malty aroma with a hoppy burst. More sweet, caramelly malts, classic hoppy edge. Lots of body.

a brand new hazy pale in here that has been gluten reduced, awesome hop profile, very drinkable and distinctive, well above expectations and overall one of the better hop driven beers i have had in here. literally everyone on their patio was drinking these when we were in, so we joined in. its got a slight amber tone to it, deeper than a lot of modern pale ales, its old school color with new school haze, not overly dense or anything, and with a full inch of airy white head from the tap. aroma is surprisingly fruity, peaches and candied orange, melon and papaya, tropical without being cloying or overdone, and with some lightly toasted grain in there for balance, very fresh and unlike anything i have had. the flavor is pretty original as well, id love to know which hops are in the mix here, hints of coconut and vanilla among the fruitiness, a candied and concentrated middle of the tongue thing from the hops at the climax, good malt support but still light to drink. freshness is counts for a lot here, and this tastes brand new. bitterness is minimal, this is balanced in a unique way, and i think it takes pale ale to a new place really, between the haze, the gluten reduction, and the maltiness, not to mention the distinctive hops. really nice beer, definitely worth a trip down to the brewery to try!

Listing this one as a NEIPA and not a Pale Ale, though it is 'small' at 5.5% abv. On-tap @ the brewery in Boise ID.

A: Bright, opaquely-hazy pale gold.

S: Big notes of tropical fruitiness, with coconut, peach, mango.

T: More tropical fruit bowl with mango, stone fruit, coconut vibes, and pithy orange/citrus on a dry finish.

MF: Drinks bigger than 5.5% abv.

O: Well-executed, a delicious hazy pale ale low in bitterness and high in tropical flavors.
