Great Chicago Fire Brewery & Tap Room "Black Forest"
on tap at the brewery on 22 December 2018
Notes: 12.6% abv. 48.6 IBUs. Typical imperial stout appearance with an opaque black body and creamy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and vanilla with subtle notes of cherry mixed in. The cherry, however, comes through more clearly in the flavor. It's sweetish, but then it should be as it's really a dessert beer - although you can certainly drink it on its own. The alcohol is apparent but lends it a nice touch of spiciness. Nicely balanced by a firm bitterness that allows it to finish mainly dry. Medium leaning toward medium-full in body and gently tingling and then creamy smooth across the palate. Very nicely done.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
