16 oz / 473 mL can of unknown age poured into a narrow stemmed beer (for my purposes) glass.

Yellow-gold coloring, medium haze, fully opaque, with zero turbidity. Big, fluffy, soapy, off-white head with strong retention and substantial abstract lacing along the walls of the glass. Quite nice.

Very nice nose with strong stone fruit and grass hitting first. Then I get wafts of citrus, pine, pepper, wine grape, and a dank, herbal finish. Return sniffs produces berry notes, grapefruit rind, and a little green onion. Not overpowering or overly punchy, but very nice and layered.

Initial reaction on the tongue is very good, as there's a juicy sweetness that hits first, accompanied by dank grass and crackery malts. Then the overripe stone fruit kicks in, and with it comes a raw, starchy, green astringency that really takes away from the experience. Finishes pithy and quite dry, with a lingering grapefruit and lemon-lime persona. But that astringent twang lingers, too.

Feel is extremely velvety and soft, with perfect carbonation, though the actual liquid is probably on the medium-thin side. Really like how it washes over the tongue and teeth. Coating but not sticky at all.

Very solid offering. Would like to try another can (or draft pour) to see if that green astringency is a consistent element or just a one-off. Besides that piece, I really like the beer.

On tap at the brewery, Vancouver.
Hazy sunshine; candied citrus nose nose; tropical smoothie with grapefruit, wintergreen and spruce; scratchy bitterness to end.

The Vic Secret is mint bordering on menthol, Citra brings *so* much pith, and Simcoe is all evergreen that needlessly verges on catty. No onion from the Mosaic, so I guess that’s something. But no oaty smoothness, and definitely the roughest lactose beer I’ve ever had. All “more is better” without the skill.

Strathcona are just not very good, are they?

Poured from a 473ml can. An IPA dry hopped with Galaxy, Simcoe, and Citra. Made with oats and a hint of lactose sugar.
