Collaboration with DSSOLVR
We teamed up with our buds from DSSOLVR down in Asheville, NC to bring you Prime Velocity, an American Cream Ale conditioned on Cascara. We're both huge fans of Cream Ales (respect it!) and wanted to add the slight essence and nuance of cascara, which is the fruit that contains coffee beans. It's nothing like coffee, and creates much more of a tea like experience with fresh cherry and mango character imparted to the final beer. Shout out to our friends at Def Fer for hooking us up with the Cascara! It's light, pleasant, and supremely drinkable at 4.2%.

A: Pours a clear pale yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate bright yellow + very pale golden yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall creamy foamy bright white head that quickly reduces to a handful of small to medium sized patches of very thin film surrounded by a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of lightly toasted + cereal grain malts with moderate amount of corn-like sweetness. Light aromas of cascara (hints of cherry and overripe mango). Slightly heavier than light aromas of floral + herbal hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of lightly toasted + cereal grain malts with moderate amount of corn-like sweetness. That is followed by very light flavors of cascara (hints of cherry and overripe mango). Finally there are slightly heavier than light flavors of floral + herbal hops which impart a very light amount of bitterness which fades away pretty quickly leaving a relatively clean finish.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp initially with a moderate amount of smooth, almost creaminess and a relatively clean finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasant mouthfeel. Very enjoyable (though I am a sucker for a Cream Ale) and I enjoy the addition of cascara though I wish that it was not so subtle.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
