Bruce – from Dancing Gnome Brewery. 16 oz can. In reefer at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Acquired 11/10/23, $ 4.50 (Including tax), $ 0.266/fl oz. Reviewed 14/10/23 (Review 3165). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “09182023”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 53.7 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was ? degrees F. (Too busy drinking and neglected to measure final temperature.)
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), murky.
Body – Pale Straw (SRM 2), murky and opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same, and soaks up light like a black hole.
Head: Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, meringue-like. Slowly reduces, leaving a 3 to 9 mm frothy crown and a thin, partial cap. A few tiny pieces of head remain hanging on the glass.
Lacing – Fair. Some coarse, three-dimensional lacing forming a single undulating band. The hanging pieces mentioned earlier are dried to the glass.
Aroma – 4.5 – An excellent combination of orange, peach, and grapefruit. No malt, lots of hops, no yeast. No ethanol (6.4 % ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 4.5 – Following the nose and tropical fruity. No malt, distinct hops, no yeast. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends with moderate gastric warming.
Palate – 4.25 – Medium; approaching creamy; lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.5 Looks like an infected urine sample. Unlike an infected urine sample, however, this smells and tastes great! Fruit fly approved.
