I tried this at the brewery whilst in town for a work conference. The beer poured a clear golden and had thin white head that did not leave much lacing. The scent had very faint grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its an alright beer.

On-tap at Clockwerks Brewing, Minneapolis, MN

A: The beer is relatively clear light yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. The head died down and left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of rye are present in the nose.
T: The taste is dominated by flavors of rye and associated spiciness along with notes of malts.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer seemed like it could have used a little more pilsener malts to help balance out the rye.

this is a step or two away form being awesome beer, but its a neat idea, and i bet it gets there before too many more batches. a little darker than most pils types, more brass than yellow, and without the high head i like to see in the style, but beautiful clarity here. i smell a pinch of rye in the aroma, it stands right out, seemingly adding more of a toasted nutty thing than it does its usual spice complexion. the pils malt is fresh and sturdy as well, a fine combination of grain on the nose. the flavor is a little unbalanced, but plenty drinkable, with the rye kind of blending in a little too much, not lost, but largely covered up, and the crackery bready pils malt being quite robust. the yeast is fine, but it hasnt dried this out the way it should have, it lacks that snappy crisp finish that is pretty important for me in a good pils. carbonation is also a little low, but i like the hops in the finish, and i dont mind the slightly larger body. i think a more complete fermentation and just a bit more of the rye malt would make this a better and more dramatic beer, but its off to a good start, and this should please most drinkers as it is now...
