Warm inviting aromas of dark chocolate and raisins with subtle molasses notes in the background. Pours as black as the Winter Solstice at midnight with ample dark tan creamy head. Greets the palate with complex but restrained roasty notes married with smooth bakers chocolate flavors initially. Dark toffee notes give way to firm semi-dry finish with substantial voluptuous body and texture. Subtle lingering cocoa - rum notes. A contemplative complex sipper designed to help stave off the winter chill.

From the growler in a snifter via March First Brewery. This brew pours a
dark blackish brown with a moderate head of tan foam that settles to a
thin ring with light lacing. Nose of heavy brewers licorice / anise, char, roast,
and dark bakers cocoa. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with dark bakers cocoa,
definite brewers licorice, heavy char, light smoke, subtle caramel, and woodsy
malt notes with faint pine touched hops. Full mouth feel; low carbonation,
and bitter malt / char laden finish a touch on the watery side.
Overall; it needs work. FigLeaf was a solid brewer, the offerings since they
have been bought out by March First are nowhere near the same quality
as before. I had this years ago....this is not that brew.
