A: Pours a clear golden/orange color. A two finger white head forms with good retention. Plenty of lace is left behind.
S: Not much in the nose except piney, resiny, grapefruit hops. I don't get much rye at all, and nothing else but bittering hops.
T: Like I thought, all bitter hops. Resin, pine, grapefruit. I would really like some bread and rye character, but none to be found. Bitterness lingers on forever in the finish.
M/O: A medium body with crisp carbonation. Resin like that is a bit slick and oily. Not hard to drink if you don't mind bitter IPA, but missing any kind of rye character I am looking for.
I am aware they are calling this just and IPA, but there is no real rye character at all here. I think the bready rye would really help balance out the big bitter finish. As is, and OK west coast type IPA but nothing that particularly stands out.
