This is their attempt at a NEIPA.
A: Certainly pours with a hazy character, but not the supper opaque chunky/yeasty/floaty look that most seem to have. More of a chilled haze look. Golden/orange in color. A one finger white head forms that recedes fairly quickly and leaves some lace.
S: Berries and light passion fruit up front. I get some butter in the mix as well, maybe diacetyl? Though not all that prevalent. This is fairly simple and one noted, but not bad in anyway.
T: Like the nose, this is pretty simple. With that berry and passion fruit that almost gets to be "juicy." Certainly some buttery diacetyl here but not overwhelming, and doesn't get in the way too much. Light lingering bitterness.
M/O: A light to medium body with crisp carbonation, fairly clean. Overall, this is just OK. Not a lot going on, and just kind of average.
I hardly ever want a buttery, almost diacetyl character. Especially in an American IPA. While I do pick it up here, I tend to be a little hyper sensitive to that, and not everyone will pick it up. Given that, it is a fairly minor character I get. Though this is probably not what most people now will be thinking of for a NEIPA. To me, it is just average, and actually might come back to this rather than some other NEIPA's around town as it is not a complete muddled mess. That is not saying a lot however.
