750ml pop top bottle poured into tulip 21/8/13
A clear dark amber liquid with a short lived finger of foam that fizzes out quickly and leaves zero lace, looks weak for an Imperial Stout
S cinnamon, brown sugar, faint coco and very cold coffee, I know it sounds strange but I pick up on some cheap, strong, and shitty lager under everything
T a little maple almost to sweet, some booze on top of what I smell, with some dark bread and molasses, still has a getting loaded on the cheap thing going on
M quite thin for the style and has a fair amount of booze on the way down, not quite flat but it could use some more bubbles, sticky but not very considering the sweetness, some sugar coated raisins on the finish
O not an imperial chocolate stout at any point, its drinkable beer but reminds me of Keiths being an IPA for some reason
very disappointing brew, I saw the fancy unknown swing top on the shelf while out in BC and thought I found a hidden gem, don't be fooled like I was

great packaging from Pw Brewing with the swingtop and the cool label showing Rio in Brazil from the back of Christ on the Mount. Now I really liked this beer but it is an Impy stout but tastes rather like a big bock with chocolate notes. The chocolate is there but not really to apparent in the taste. The beer is smooth for the ABV but the flavours have a lager like finish that is not to style. I enjoyed the beer but had to give up any conceptions of the style. Bring on more special releases as I think this brewer has something to show the world rather than cheap lagers. Oh and put it in cans like the Eisbock.

A: Very deep Mahogany with ruby highlights, pours with a nice off-white head, very thin ring of retention, no lace.
S: Bock-like aroma with plenty of bread, dark raisings, hints of roasted nut.
T: Light residual sweetness with very little bitterness, which might've worked if there was more chocolate flavour, but I wouldn't call this an Imperial Stout. Light raisin bread, hints of roasted nut & cocao, slight alcohol warmth (I'd never had guessed it was 8.5%).
M: A little thin, no roasted acidity, off-dry finish.
O: Not a bad brew, just not really to style. Somewhat bock-like?
