Pours a pitch-black coloration with a huge, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of roasted, grainy, slightly caramelly malt and chocolate, with some dark fruit and just a hint of floral/herbal hops also coming through. Taste is a great balance of roasted, grainy, slightly caramelly malt, dark, bitter chocolate and dark fruit, with notes of plum and fig, as well as hints of licorice, tobacco and floral/herbal hops also coming through. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some roasted malt, chocolate and tobacco lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation.
A very nice Imperial Baltic Porter with quite a roasted, dry and bitter character, as well as a rich, dark chocolate presence, fruity and somewhat smoky highlights and hints of floral/herbal hops. There really is a great richness and depth of character to this, with a good balance of sweet, bitter and roasted notes as well, although it feels just a little boozy, which really isn't too bad though. Overall, quite a terrific, rich and well-balanced brew with a certain complexity as well that is rather enjoyable.
