Dark copper brown, almost nearing dull black, with a solid tan head that slowly settles to a curled collar.
A smoked doppel, it gives me Schlenkerla vibes, in that it is measured and not overpowering, allowing room for sweeter notes of caramel and dark toast, but also a touch of bittering black tea.
The medium body is moderately soft with a bubbly carbonation that comes to a powder dry finish.
While unique and pleasantly smoky, it's not what I come in expecting from a doppelbock.
