The Barleywine style is a delicious, deeply malty, excessively strong ale from England. Americans like to throw a lot of hops in their beer. The Galactopus is a giant space faring cephalopod who, although approachable and charming, does devour planets, moons and suns, reaping freaking awesome destruction on a truly epic scale. Both the Galactopus and the American Barleywine in general should be approached with caution.

Boozy up front on the nose - predominantly kirsch, a saison funk, hay, raspberry, strawberries and cherry, toasted rye, vanilla, dulce de leche.
Pours a hazy burnt orange colour, a one finger off-white head which dissipates to a thin film, and lots of fine lacing.
The ABV is front and center in the taste - resembling a very smooth vodka. Up front there's a very clean spirit taste with a grapefruit zest bitterness kicking in, and a herbal hint of rosemary and salt. The other flavours come out in the aftertaste, developing into vanilla and oak tones, with the cherry on the nose coming out as the bitterness mellows. It hits hard.
Slight numbing tingle on the tongue, slight oil, good middle weighted body, not much cream or foam when chewed. The mouthfeel is just numbing. Actually pretty drinkable though.
It's big, it's bold, it absolutely kicks hard, but is really smooth and way too drinkable considering its strength.
