Only outdoor seating during the Virus. Fortunately it was a warm but pleasant day. Arrived at opening a few folks there for pick up and 4 for hanging out. Inside area closed except for bathrooms. Overall had some really good IPAs. Found the Lotus Eater to be a bit soapy and dishwater like for whatever reason. The 6th Lord and Bask were both excellent examples. Had the Daily Pils in a can while in the area and that was excellent at well. Service was a bit erratic-you ordered at one table and walked around to another table to get your beer. One person waited on us and another rung the tab up. Didn't seem to synch too well. 10 to 12 beers to choose from overall. Nice experience for a pint and 3 halves. I'd definitely go again to take it in a bit more.

When we arrived here at about 2:30 PM on a Wednesday, there was already a line of folks waiting for it to open at 3 PM! I guess that says it for how good the beer is. They let us in a few minutes early which was very nice. Bartender Tristan was extremely friendly and helpful describing the various beers. I was able to chat at length with one of the owners, Mr. Bart Lanman, who was thrilled to hear that had made a beer-vacation and specifically were checking out breweries in the Waynesboro/Charlottesville area of Virginia. Only been here a few years but doing extremely well and demand is such that, distribution -wise, they can't "get out of Virginia" yet, according to Bart. This place makes first-class beer; it's not all flavored up, and it is not geared for people who don't like beer… Just straight up really superb ales and beers of all kinds for every straight-up taste. Do visit!!

Cool place built here, large and plenty of room within, lots of seating. 10 of their own beers on tap with a pretty good selection from them. One side had the taps, the other has Hops Kitchen. In between is a stage and a projection screen. Staff were friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Liked that a flight came with a small glass of water for cleansing the palate.
Pool table, pinball, and skeeball available to play. I didn't get a chance to see, but the owner mentioned there were toys for kids available. Nice outdoor space to enjoy during the warmer months.
Didn't get to sample anything yet from Hops Kitchen, but the menu looked good and the kitchen was looking quite nice. The specials were interesting and inventive.
Overall, nice place to check out if you're in the area.

More than 10 of their own beers on tap when I visited in October 2017, including three stouts/porters.
Taproom is large, decorated with old factory machine parts and timbers. Also a large adjacent game area.
Food portions were generous and tasty. Worth a detour from the Blue Ridge Parkway or interstate.

It really is a great venue to get a pint at Basic City. Good draw for hikers on the AT or drivers on the blue ridge parkway / skyline drive. Cool decor and art throughout the grounds with bar taps built out of pieces of old machinery. The taproom has windows behind the bar which illuminate the brewing tanks. It has a very welcoming feel about it all. The outdoor section also has taps in the back and outdoor seating for the warm months as well as hammocks for those who want to kick up their feet. They use a food truck model but all the food that come on site are spot on. If you are a fan of craft brew, this place is an excellent destination. Cheers!

Cool vibe about the place as much of the decor was repurposed from the Virginia Metalworks facility it was a part of. Decent sized taproom which a big attached open space that has a pool table, pinball machine and even a skeeball. Nice variety of beers on tap and the two we tried, the IPA and DIPA, were both very solid if not spectacular. Pretty polished venue from the start, kind of reminds me of Random Row in Charlottesville and Pro Re Nata in Crozet in that they are looking to be community gathering places with good local beer and not necessarily production facilities.
