This beer gives head. Light white, little rocky. Beer is a very light copper color. Beer isn't bad but not as hoppy as I thought it would be.

Dark gold body with a foamy, white head. Faint pine resin scent. Decent malt backbone; mild biscuit notes; fair hop bitterness. Medium bodied; mostly smooth but with a nice, gentle bitter raspiness; mostly dry finish.
An okay IPA. It lacks memorable defining character yet still maintains an easy drinkability.

a drinkable but underwhelming ipa. i think you have to aim a bit higher than this one does to stand out in the crowded colorado beer market, especially in a style like ipa, this is just too dull and familiar to warrant much response from the beer geeks out there or from the market, but i suspect their recent move may be a sign of changes to come. this recipe could use a face lift, its just a coppery malty overbalanced english/american ipa with a light pine flavor but mostly bitterness. in a place where only BMC stuff was available, this would be an obvious choice, but in this beer market here in denver, its just not enough for me. lacking nuance and distinctness, its just a hoppy bore to me. nothing off about it, no metallics or funky phenolic weirdness, but just nothing to get real excited about except for the generous abv in occasional contexts. i like basically all of the other grand lake beer i have had better than this one, but it may serve to appease those fans of english pale ales looking to make a transition to american ipa, if such a demographic even exists.
