Had this today at lunch
Poured mahogany/black with 1.5" of mocha colored head . Very good head retention & lacing
S: Some chocolate & coffee notes
T: Chocolate & roasted grain up front. Slight booze warmth as this warmed. Finished dry with a little hint of vanilla & sweet chocolate
MF: Chewy, heavy-bodied with oiliness & low carbonation
Drinks easy for the abv, a very good take on the style. Would've brought home a growler but it was $ 20 for a growler, yikes!

I had this one this past weekend at the Brewery. I know you aren't supposed to review by memory, but I mostly wanted to get this one added to the data base.
On draft and served in a tulip glass. Dark black in appearance with a slight head that was light brown in color.
Smells of dark chocolate and coffee, and the same comes through in the taste. It's a well balanced beer that is ready to drink right out of the tanks. Not too bitter like some fresh American versions.
Mouthfeel is great. Nice and creamy with a low carbonation. This one goes down easy, but you have to be careful with a 9.5 ABV beer when you are at 9000 ft above sea level.
I highly recommend this beer. Not the ideal beer after a day of mountain biking in the heat, but it still managed to hit the spot.
