This one had a few moments of promise, slight whiffs of rye whiskey spice alongside no shortage of nutty caramel and chocolate. In the end, that caramel/chocolate and concordant sweetness were just too much, though. It wanted more roast, more char, more depth. I'm not generally a fan of sweet BA stouts, so YMMV, but a full glass of this proved a tough task. The barrel didn't feel especially well integrated either, more like veins of sweetness broken up by spikes of whiskey. I'll say this: it's definitely interesting and definitely a different spin on your run of the mill BA stout, and I think it has promise. Just felt like the recipe and barrel time may need to be tweaked a bit.
