Got this one from doopie who got it from the Beer Guy himself. Money.
From a 16oz can into a pint glass
Inspired by Ian Harwell
APPEARANCE: Pours out very hazy and yields a 1+ finger, medium looking, creamy and frothy white head with excellent retention. Cloudy, opaque amber orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full cap and coats the glass with frothy lacing. A faint wisp remains until the end leaving lots of nice lacing down the glass as it empties. Really good looking.
SMELL: Plenty of pineapple, peaches, as well as lot of mango and tangerine flavors. Plenty of tropical fruit with a slight hint of caramel underneath. Bold and enticing.
TASTE: Plenty of hop bitterness, some piney flavors and caramel sweetness up front. The tropical fruits come out nicely after the swallow with some pineapple, peaches, mango and passion fruit flavors showing up. A bold and lingering finish of piney bitterness, some pineapple and passion fruit, as well as caramel and malty sweetness. Flavorful. This one is a little on the bitter and piney side of the spectrum for the New England style.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy and smooth on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a touch dry. Some decent bitterness lingers.
OVERALL: Solid stuff. The nose is really nice, bringing out lots of tropical aromas, though the flavor doesn’t quite reach that same level. It’s also a little more bitter than the style would normally suggest. The feel is solid and the look is top notch on this one though, making this an overall enjoyable brew. Really cool that Tombstone would dedicate a brew to our buddy Ian. Cool stuff and really glad I was able to give this one an honest college try. Cheers, guys!
