Picked up in Tucson lets hop e its better then the regular, Pours a deep black some dark brown hues around the edge when held to the light otherwise used oil black. Thin coco colored head fells fast to ringed bubbles no real lace again not sprising on this big boy.
Aroma is big roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with some toffee or maybe maple like hints and vanilla mixed together. Good bourbon notes with some alcohol mingled in, not surprising considering the abv. Not an overly complex nose but it smells inviting enough.
Taste is better then the regular , first of the roasted notes fade and you get sweet chocolate, vanilla and again maple hints that linger through out the finish. I find it weird that the regular wasn't as nice as this it seemed too hot and not enough nuances. The barrel again is nice and not over the top just adds the right amount of bourbon notes, vanilla and a light alcohol note that mingles perfectly. Again weird that this higher abv isn't a hot mess like the regular Russian Stout.
Mouthfeel is big almost full with mellow carbonation.
Overall I am pleasantly surprised bye this one, its been in the fridge since our trip in December. I just wish the other stout was as good as this one is.
