On tap at Triphammer Bierwerks in Fairport, NY.
This one pours a tawny brown color, with a white foamy head, and a good level of lacing.
Smells like banana, clove, caramel, and toasty bread.
The integration of flavors integral to the best versions of this style aren't quite there, but all the flavors I want to see are there. The clove and banana, with some slight citrus, from the hefe yeast are definitely there, and taste really nice atop a good dark malt backbone, some dark semi-sweet bread, caramel, and brown sugar. There's no bitterness to kinda balance out the sweetness- with a little bit more balance this would be perfect.
This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, with a good level of carbonation.
2nd best beer of the day here. Nobody really does this style, so it's cool to see a local brewery do it fairly well, with a few points of improvement.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
