On tap at Level brewing in the Multnomah village location.
The beer pours the expected blackish brown color with really good head retention and considerable lacing. The nose is a bit unusual I thought, as I pick up noticeable burnt toast, licorice, light vanilla and light smoked meat. There's a hint of whiskey from the barrel aging as well. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this stout, and I thought this beer improved as it warmed a bit. I also felt like I picked up a bit more of the whiskey flavor on the palate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied to fairly full, with a moderately long, licorice and vanilla infused finish. Alcohol is pretty well integrated into the flavor profile, though you can tell it's up there.
All and all, a pretty decent effort from Level brewing I thought. Nothing extraordinary, but I thought it a good, solid ba impy stout. Given how outstanding the ba stout selection is in this part of the world; I likely would not want to order this again.
