This is somewhat good, but not great, a bit one-dimensional, bland, and a very standard, basic amber ale.
Deep brown, somewhat reddish and faintly hazy, it has a thin, off-white head steadily shrinking to a thin ring and leaving a little bit of lace.
The aroma is very subdued and mostly vaguely fruity-grapey with some weak hint of citrus.
The taste is mostly lightly caramelised grapefruit with some toasted grain, a hint of vague fruitiness with general fermented grape and faint resiny leafiness. It is some sweetness dominated slightly by light, lingering slightly sharp cistrusy-grapefruity bitterness. It has an aftertaste of lightly bitter grapefruit and toasted grain. It's slightly off-balance, not very complex, and quite standard, yet is still fairly drinkable and has some lasting flavour.

Here we go again. Tried this beer after being very disappointed in the pale ale on cask. This beer poured a crystal clear deep amber and the lacing was among the most beautiful and decorative I have come across outside of the U.K. Solid distinct rings and between them little dots. Here again was the "taste" that sharp licorice like note, very distracting and I think I came across it in a pale ale made by a small local brewery failry near to where I live. Whatever it is I don't like it. There are zero hints at the citrusy, piney, notes that are so prominent in the Northern California and Pacific Northwest beers. I can't say i'm interested in ever trying another beer from this brewery. Hate to say that but it's true.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
