This is a pleasant beer with a slightly unusual character which I assume comes from the use of yarrow instead of hops.
Faintly hazy yellow, it has a small, foamy white head steadily shrinking to foamy ring and a few wisps of lace.
Aroma is fermented pears, strong honey, and flowers and herbs. Yarrow itself does seem just barely noticeable.
Taste is sour pears, hint of apple cider vinegar, and an herbaceous/herbal character, plus firm light biscuit maltiness in the finish. It is nice, refreshing, and has a light but firm, well-rounded character plus enough interest to keep it going. Feel is fairly standard, perhaps seeming slightly watery, but not quite.

A strange little experiment., brewed with the hearty medicinal weed Yarrow instead of hops. The staff at Ukiah seemed equivocal about this beer (in fact, my waited tried to talk me out of it), but it was actually pretty good, though a little off because of the absence of the familiar hop character.
If anything, this comes off like a British pub bitter - mild, malty, and easy drinking without being terribly memorable flavorwise. It pours a deep copper no head to speak of. The aroma is disappointing, with hardly any character. But the flavor is better- very mild, with an interesting vegetal edge. Malt predominates, with a nutty sweet crystal flavor. The lack of hops gives a weird effect, highlighting the malt but giving a strange veggie quality, like cucumber-infused water. It is refreshing but strange. The mouthfeel is rich and watery at the same time. Interesting to try.
