1L howler from Sherbrooke Liquor store, apparently the only place in Edmonchuk to sample this nascent Peace Country brewery's wares right now.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium copper yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, rocky, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some cannonball splash aftermath lace in spots around the glass as it hastily recedes.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, buttery white crackers, muddled domestic citrus rind, a touch of estery yeastiness, and some plain leafy, weedy, and faintly piney green hop bitterness. The taste is semi-sweet, doughy caramel malt, a lesser crackery graininess, pleasantly (at this juncture) unparsable citrus flesh, fading wayward son yeasty notes, and more understated herbal, leafy, and pine needle-esque verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite wan in its barely-there frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, with a nice aerosol creaminess extant pretty much from the get-go. It finishes off-dry, with the thinned-out malt and equally fading citrus/pine characters locked in a simple race to recharge the palate - i.e. have another swig, boyo!

Overall, this is a fairly straightforward, easy to drink brew, with the hoppy bitterness kept to a near minimum, sadly. More malty than anything else, as noted, which is no big deal, other than the fact that my palate would tire after a couple rounds of this stuff - but lookee here! One more glass to accompany my Saturday night spicy pizza, so I guess things have a way of working themselves out, after all.
