L- Mid amber, clear, thin white head > swiftly to lacing.
S- It has that typical nose of a contemporary IPA with some zestiness, you can also sense the meat on the bones ABV here too.
T- Quite complex, building to some pungency, into a deep complex dry but rich finish. Towards the finish there is something a little unexpected, a vineous note or similar, as if it might have been aged in sherry casks. Others might identify this better than I can.
F- Different in that it's not over-focussed on hops. Sure it's hoppy, but it has the balancing meatiness/body to go along with it. This seems to be more trad+comtemporary twist vs hipster hop-bomb. Carbonation in the mouth holds well.
O- Bought from M&S London today. This has the same 6.2% ABV as Wimbledon's Quartermaine IPA but the similarity seems to end there. The lable is claret red and silver, instead of the latter's blue+white, and this isn't labelled as Quartermaine/IPA. The tasting notes seem to diverge widely too. I just mention that as I can't find this on the brewery's website (yet?). £2.20/330ml bottle. BBE 05/2020.
