The secret is out! Hazy IPA isn't just for New England anymore. The news has gone widespread and now the haze is taking over. Now in full control of the Big Beach Brewing Co., this flavor is simply contagious.
Pouring an expected hazy goldenrod and matte taupe, Area 251 brings a soft eggshell froth with a host of floral, fruity and grainy-sweet aromatics. Notions of pastry, shortcake and cereal decorate a soft and sweet grain profile as the ale coats the tongue with cereal grain and malt. The boldness of hops pull from the floral and reward the palate with citrusy orange, white grapefruit and lime with more tropical flavors of pineapple, passionfruit and mango. Rounding out with hints of apricot, blackcurrant and then wrapped in a cocoon of honeydew and the fruit cocktail is complete. Trending softly bitter, a late hop taste of verbena, spruce, tea leaf and citrus peel provides balance and bite.
Medium bodied and finishing smoothly bitter, the malty-dry and slight bitter forward ale keeps rewarding the palate with fruitiness deep into a medium-length aftertaste.
