A 5-oz. pour at the brewery served in what looked like a small grated cheese shaker.
Rich and creamy chiffon-like tan head with average retention, a ring persists, a cap returns with an easy swish. Very dark vintage rosewood brown, opaque and almost black.

Fresh brewed coffee and roasted beans, toasted hazelnut and milk chocolate greet the nose and are well represented in the taste. Faint hops blend with lightly bitter roasted malt.

The tastes is closer to neutral than semi-sweet and averagely bitter, uniform throughout the drink. The chocolate taste changes to bakers chocolate, faint sweet stone fruit and citrus hops add to the big roasted malt finish. A mild bitter and roasted malt bite lingers.

Above average carbonation and body, malty rich and smooth. Alcohol is noticeable, a faint astringency lurks in the background.

Overall very balanced with big flavors, lightly hopped, the roasted malt bitterness prevails.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark black hue with a thin mocha head that fades to leave a thin wispy head that fades to leave a light halo.

S - Aromas of cold brew coffee, light vanilla, solid hazelnuts. Really straightforward with nice chocolate notes too.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, nice lightly bitter coffee, the hazelnut is light but very nutty. Really nice chocolate and vanilla.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy.

O - Overall this was a rather solid coffee beer, nice chocolate. Solid coffee notes. Very nice.

Crowler filled 13 days ago. Poured into a pint glass, the head was extremely fizzy, reminiscent of cola, and immediately dissipated to nothing, leaving no head and unnappetizing looking beer. Mouthfeel was thin and lifeless, almost flat. Aroma presented hazlenut coffee and some generic dar malts. Flavor was half decent (if not a bit cheap tasting) with pominent coffee presence but the mouthfeel completely ruined it. I can't help but think there might be something wrong with the crowler. If so, this is 0 for 2 on crowlers from this brewery as both have been faulty. The first one had a faulty lid that seeped beer underneath and this one perhaps didnt keep carbonation well.....cant tell if this beer was supposed to have better carbonation or not. Regardless, this beer was a drain pour and a waste of money.
