Black in appearance. Off white, khaki colored head. Aroma has zero hop character, mainly just some roasty malt notes. Flavor offers no hops either, seems like all i get are sufficient bittering hops for balance but this is touted as a black ipa so i want it to be hop forward. Malts do not taste deep or complex, just average. Mouthfeel is crisp....now, crispness in an ipa is good, but this drinks like a Porter and I dont want my porters crisp. Overall a very average and non descript dark ale that fails as an IPA and fails at hitting another style better. Wasnt cheap so value isnt good. Also a bummer that the top cap on the crowler was faulty so some of it leaked out all over my counter as i poured it.

Crowler
Nice creamy foamy head, dark brown color
Nose some dark malts, little cocoa and faint roast, dark caramel, big hops, citrus tropical notes, floral and hint pine
Taste sweet malts, little cocoa, caramel, creamy malt, into floral spicy hops, mild tropical citrus, fair bitterness.
Mouth is med bod creamy lighter carb
Overall eh, not bad for the style.

Newest in their line up, not super dark but well balanced. Is available in cans at CBC and in growler fills at the brewery. Had this at the Snug at an event in Hingham,
