473ml can served cold into a pint glass. DUrand purchase.
Appearance - Dark chestnut brown with a finger plus of light tan head. Medium head retention and some spotty lacing.
Smell - Mostly roasty bits, a little bit of piney hops and a splash of citrus but the nose is subdued and more focused on the roasty aspect.
Taste - More burnt roasty with a little grapefruit and pine mixed in, a slight bit of orange mixed in too, but pretty roasty forward. Fairly bitter.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied, carbonation quite prickly. Finish is semi-dry and works well enough with the flavor profile.
Overall - Quasar is a good Black IPA, but nothing that really stands out. The flavors are solid and this black IPA, the most distinguishable thing is that it is more roasty and in those ways stout like than most other black IPA's. If that's you're thing, Quasar will knock it out of the park, otherwise, less likely too.
