Can: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of chocolate notes with some vanilla and bourbon notes with light woody notes also perceptible. Taste is a mix of vanilla and chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes with some bourbon notes and woody finish. Body is full with a nice oily texture and good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. Well brewed BA stout.

355 ml can served cold into a chalice. Another Durand purchase. Canned November 21, 2022.

Appearance - jet black with a small half finger of dark tan head and yellowy hues. No lacing but quite imposing.

Smell - loads of bourbon, chocolate and toasty malts mostly. A little sprinkle of vanilla here or there. Strong and inviting nose.

Taste- huge bourbon presence initially then lots of roasted malts, hints of smoke, a little dark chocolate and boozy bourbon bite again. Straightforward in this sense and well executed, no frills just very tasty imperial stout.

Mouthfeel- full bodied and slick and oily. Carbonation is low and heat in the back of the throat is fairly substantial. The alcohol gives and nice little tingling on the tongue.

Overall - very good and well executed bourbon barrel aged Russian imperial stout. Well worth the purchase and a welcome sipper on a cold and damp winter night.
