16oz pour at the brewery, tulip glass.
Burgundy color with little head.
Cherry wood smoke, port, red berry.
Again, cherry wood, as well as red berry compote, vanilla, peat. Deeply, sweetly, and deliciously complex. This is a neglected style that even when done, is not usually done well. This is well done.
Medium bodied, slick, rich, and moderately carbonated. It’s a rich experience, but balanced.
I order Scotch Ales with trepidation because they are so rarely good. This one is good.
