Nashville Amber is a historic pre-prohibition style amber lager. Originating from Vienna in the mid 1800’s, amber lagers were derived when new kilning methods created malts that were light in color, contributing to a rich amber color. European immigrants brewed amber lagers in America which were slightly lighter and less malty than their European cousins. Although extremely popular prior to prohibition, amber lagers all but disappeared afterwards. We are proud to resurrect this wonderful pre-prohibition style Amber Lager.

My favorite amber lagers are Nordeast and Yeungling, so there is a high standard. The taste is very unexpected, definitely missing something. Don’t waste your money on this at any price.

Pours a light golden amber, clear body, with a good head. Smell is typical of a clean lager, with some grain and sulfur. Taste is exceptionally balanced between grain, hops, and yeast. It finishes crisp, smooth, and incredibly refreshing.
It reminded me quite a bit of Austrian-style Märzen lagers in terms of its balanced, crisp taste. I really enjoyed this one!

Appearance: Pours a fairly clear, darkened bronze body with a thin, thinning, white head.
Smell: Faint, faint whiffs of grainy barley, herbal-toned hops.
Taste: Mild taste of grain, light breadcrust. Ramps up a bit of sugared sweetness along with a slight tanginess as the initial tastes recede. Near nil hop character, bitterness. Maintains its sweetness through the finish.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Relatively light carbonation.
Overall: Skip it. With innumerable breweries these days stepping up their lager game, is there really any time for ever more ho-hum, vapid renditions?
